Operation Homefront through its Homes on the Homefront program wants to help military veterans and their families realize their own American dreams. It continues to receive donated homes to award to deserving military families around the country through partners like Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America and Meritage Homes. The homes are renovated to “move in ready” standards and ultimately deeded over subject to certain conditions being met.
A home in Easton has just become available for a deserving and eligible military veteran family. Those interested must apply by 8 November, currently. (more…)
On Saturday, 15 November, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., the Macungie Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9264 and its Ladies Auxiliary is hosting an event for all veterans and their significant others – whether members of a veterans organization or not. Ritter Elementary School at 740 N Plymouth St, Allentown, PA 18109, is again having its annual, fifth grade student’s veterans’ interview day. The interviews are to be conducted on 1 October. This is one of the oldest school events involving veterans in the Lehigh Valley and has a sterling reputation among veterans from our community who have participated. It is a tradition carried on by the teachers themselves in remembrance of our veterans and their contributions to our nation and community. (more…)
On Sunday, 9 November, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the Allentown Band, sponsored by the Morning Star Rotary Club, will give a concert at the Northeast Middle School Auditorium, 1170 Fernwood St., Bethlehem. Please come and enjoy an evening of patriotic music honoring our U.S. troops serving abroad and our veterans who have served in the past. The band is world-renowned and also the oldest in America. On 24 September 2014, Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), a member organization, is holding a Grand Opening for its new veterans’ lounge at 4525 Education Park Drive on the LCCC Main Campus in Schnecksville. The lounge will be open for viewing between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dr. Ann Bieber, will do the ribbon cutting at 12 p.m., followed by a luncheon. Registration for the event is required. (more…)
