Our Lehigh County Veterans Affairs Office compiled this listing of Memorial Day events within the Lehigh Valley and Upper Bucks area, based on organizational submissions. It is current as of 12 May:

• Saturday – Monday, May 28-30
o Bethlehem: SteelStacks Memorial Day Celebration (http://www.steelstacks.org/memorial-day/)
o Emmaus: The Emmaus Commemorative Gardens Foundation and the Emmaus Veterans Committee will hold a ceremony to install 22 bricks to the Veterans Walk at 1 p.m. at the Remembrance Garden at the Knauss Homestead, 164 E. Main St., Emmaus. Guest speaker: Staff Sgt. Garrett W. Rogers, a medic currently serving in the Army.
o Bushkill Township: Will hold services at 1:30 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial flagpole at the recreation fields on Bushkill Center Road directly across from the township municipal building. Speakers are John and Kit Cotton. Music by the Nazareth Community Band. Rain location: Bushkill Township Fire Company social hall, behind the township municipal building.
o Hellertown: American Legion Post 397 will hold services at 2 p.m. at Union Cemetery, Hellertown.

• Monday, May 30
o Allentown: United Veterans of Wars Lehigh County. 10 a.m. ceremony in the Lehigh County Government Center (17 S. 7th St.). Guest Speaker: Pastor Bob Stevens.
o Allentown: 8a.m. Taps over Bethlehem, continuous performance of taps by 40 buglers/trumpeters from Nisky Hill to Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 11:45 ceremony at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Airport Road. Guest Speaker: Lehigh County Judge Robert L. Steinberg. State Rep. Michael Schlossberg, Sen. Pat Browne and Lehigh County Executive Tom Muller will also attend.
o Bethlehem: Parade starts at 9 a.m. from Liberty High School (Linden Street) to the Memorial Park Cemetery where a brief ceremony will occur. [Organized by LVMAC.]
o Coopersburg: V.F.W. Post #3405 will hold services at 10 a.m. at Living Memorial Park, E. Landis Street. Speakers include state Rep. Justin Simmons and Gary Hovis, mayor of Coopersburg. Music by the Balcony Brass Ensemble.
o Doylestown: United Veterans of Doylestown Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Central Bucks West High School, travels east on W. Court Street, east on West State Street, north on North Main Street to Doylestown Cemetery for a service.
o East Bangor: Services at 1 p.m. at East Bangor Cemetery, Park Road. Guest speaker: Rev. Paul Mulligan, retired Lt. Cmdr. U. S. Coast Guard. Rain location, East Bangor United Methodist Community Church, 136 W. Central Ave. Info: 610-588-4453
o Easton: Parade starts at 10:15 a.m. at 6th and Northampton streets.
o Emmaus: Parade starts at 9 a.m. from Emmaus High School, continue to Chestnut Street and end at the Fourth Street Memorial Triangle.
o Macungie: VFW Post 9264. 10 a.m. parade start at Shoemaker Elementary School proceeding to Macungie Memorial Park. Ceremony at the band shell at 10:45 a.m. Guest Speaker: Dr. Charles D. Peters, Jr., Commander, U.S. Navy Reserve. Memorial service at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (VFW Post 9624, 287 Lehigh Street) at noon after program at the park. o Northampton: The Northampton Joint Veterans will hold services at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park, 14th and Washington streets, Northampton.
o Perkasie and Sellersville: Memorial Day parade begins at 9 a.m. at Seventh and Market streets, Perkasie, and ends at Perkasie’s Menlo Park at 10 a.m. for a memorial service.
o Phillipsburg: Memorial Day parade begins at 9 a.m. on Abbott Street, proceeds to South Main Street and on to Shappell Park. A ceremony will be held in the park with guest speaker Thomas J. Fey, Warren County Legion commander. The parade continues down South Main Street to the free bridge. Members of the Bernardine May American Legion Post 457 Firing Squad and members of the Brown and Lynch American Legion Post and Marine Corps will hold a ceremony on the bridge. Mayors from both Easton and Phillipsburg will toss a wreath into the river. Music by Phillipsburg Band and Easton Band.
o Quakertown: American Legion Post 242. 9 a.m. parade start at Quakertown Freshman Center (Ninth Street) proceeding to Memorial Park on Mill Street. Ceremony at 10 a.m. Guest Speaker: Thomas Applebach
o Slatington: American Legion Post 16. 10 a.m. Parade start at Main and Second streets proceeding to Fairview Cemetery. Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Guest Speaker: Retired Army Lt. Col. Blair Tiger
o Wescosville: Will hold services at 9 a.m. at the World War II Memorial, Wescosville Park, 5047 Hamilton Blvd., Allentown.
o West Bangor: The West Bangor Memorial Association will hold its annual Memorial Day program at 11 a.m. at the Memorial site, Second Street. David A. Mettin, chief of the Slate Belt Regional Police Department, will be the guest speaker.
o Whitehall: American Legion Post 367 (609 Fullerton Ave, Whitehall, PA 18052). 10 a.m. ceremony on the post grounds.
