LVMAC — Photos of Lehigh and Northampton Vietnam Veterans Wanted for Vietnam Veterans Memorial

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), in partnership with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Inc. (VVMF) — the nonprofit organization authorized by the U.S. Congress in 1980 to build a national memorial dedicated to all who served with the U.S. armed forces in the Vietnam War — is asking that you help them locate more than 600 photos of Pennsylvanians who sacrificed their lives in the Vietnam War and for whom VVMF has no photos.  As of 14 August, twenty-eight on the list are from Lehigh and Northampton counties.

VVMF’s “Faces Never Forgotten” campaign is undoubtedly driven by the Department of Defense desire to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Vietnam War between 2015 and 2017.  The organization is trying to collect photos for each of the 58,307 men and women whose names are inscribed on the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. (better known as The Wall) to “put a face” to the names of these servicemembers for future generations.  Since the effort began in October 2009, photographs for at least 41,000 hae been found.  However, of the 3,148 Pennsylvanians names on The Wall, photos are still needed for 606 of them.
