LVMAC News: A Very Special Event, A’s for Vets Virtual Run ‘n Walk

Academics for Veterans (A’s for Vets), an alliance formed by the LVMAC, consisting of Institutions of Higher Learning in the Greater Lehigh Valley endeavoring to better assist veterans seeking education and support, is conducting a Virtual 5K Ruck ‘n Walk Challenge.  The event will take place during Veterans Appreciation Week from 8 November through 15 November.

Donations will benefit the VALOR Clinic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, provides assistance in accessing benefits and shelter to military veterans with limited or no access to care.  Air Products is the event sponsor.

The following provides some of the particulars of the event:

Choose your challenge: 5K Ruck OR Walk! Everyone participating in the Ruck will carry as much or as little weight as you feel comfortable with (The suggested ruck weight is 10% of your body weight).

Choose your team: Join your favorite college or university team and help them move to the top of the leader board with the miles you Ruck OR Walk!  A digital race bib will be automatically assigned and emailed to you.

Choose your route: In your neighborhood, on the trail, on your treadmill, around the track, anywhere

Choose your date and time: Ruck OR Walk anytime between November 8, sunrise and November15, sunset.

Choose your tracking device:   Use your Fitbit or try Strava or RunKeeper to track your 5K!

Submit your results: Results can be submitted anytime before November 15, 2020 23:59.

Awards:

Don’t forget to download your finisher’s certificate to show off your achievement!

All registrants who submit their results by November 15, 2020 23:59 will be entered into a raffle to win one of ten $50 gift cards!

The college or university team with the most miles submitted by team participants (Ruck and Walk challenge combined), earns a plaque to be displayed on their campus and BRAGGING RIGHTS!

The female and the male Rucker with the fastest 5K time will each win a $100 gift card and BRAGGING RIGHTS!

The top male Rucker with the fastest 5K time will win a $100 gift card and BRAGGING RIGHTS!
