LVMAC News — Last Call — for Our Annual Salute Your Troops Dinner!
The Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council is conducting its “Salute to the Troops” this year on 22 May, starting at 6 p.m., again at the Days Hotel (The Jetport), 3400 Airport Road in Allentown. Please come, but immediately make your reservation. Don’t worry if you a few days beyond the suspense date on the form, though tables are filling quickly and we do need to get the order in to the caterer as soon as possible.
It’s hard to believe we have been doing this annual event for so long. For the twelfth year we are celebrating our recently returned veterans and servicemembers, who attend at no cost (including their significant other). It also gives us all an opportunity to mingle and socialize as a community. The dinner’s continuance is a testimony to its past success and to a wonderfully supportive community we have in this valley.
Beyond some pomp and ceremony, lie the true purposes of the event: the need to maintain the connection of our military to our community for their good and to remember in an active way what our veterans have often sacrificed for us. This year Master Sergeant Willard Jones of Dieruff High School’s Junior ROTC program will speak. He has held various high level positions during his extended career.
