The Time for a Second Phase Has Come to Better Serve a Special Population
We Are Recruiting
Our aim continues to be that Lehigh Valley’s military service members, veterans and their families receive accessible and integrated health care services of the highest quality along the time continuum of care — including specialized services unique to their needs, no matter the source.
The task force is seeking professionals interested in venturing onto the next plateau of servicemember and veteran care: integrating services between health networks, providers of care and government health resources in both urban and rural areas.
Servicemember and Veteran healthcare should not be subject to the competitive arena that surrounds private American healthcare. A higher spirit should be at play if the best interests of the community and the nation are to be best served. An improved schema for government working with the community is necessary in demographic areas such as the Lehigh Valley’s.
The task force is intended to ensure:
Lehigh Valley healthcare organizations and networks are addressing current veterans health issues of concern
Collaboration on those initiatives that will provide easy access to necessary medical care for veterans
Generation of result-oriented outcomes from TRICARE, VA and other government medical resources
Creation of the ethic that the veteran comes first, not competitive interests
LVMAC successfully led a community-wide health network collaboration from 2011 to 2019 which:
Gave rise to Veteran initiatives in the then existing Lehigh Valley area hospitals. The Lehigh Valley was among the first areas in the commonwealth to do so.
Developed a professional, day-to-day working relationship with the VA’s healthcare networks.
Provided the catalyst to formation of Electronic Health Record (EHR) integration and access to Veteran health records with local area Veterans Health Administration hospitals and clinics.
Resulted in the only Veteran Health Program in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania oriented on providing long-term case management to Veterans and qualified family members.
