Veterans have a higher rate of cancer than the general population due to toxic exposures, apparently.  Therefore, when something comes along that expedites its detection, that is particularly newsworthy because it may save lives.

Advances are slowly coming forth in the War on Cancer, first announced in the early 1970’s.  One of them may be found on Page 2 of the most recent edition of Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center’s Horizon magazine.  Even if only in a final testing phase, it might benefit you, for Wilkes-Barre is expected to get it.  A simple blood draw starts it off.  It will, unfortunately, require a trip to Wilkes-Barre, but it could be worth it.  Ask your PACT doctor about it.  Inquire about the VA Veterans Transportation Service if you need a ride.
